Dear Wine Lovers

During the Chinese New Year holidays, I had some time to reflect on what are the things I am thankful for. Since 2010 kick-started, customers have been writing in to let me know how happy they are with the privileges their ywcc cards offer. I just want to say that the team at The Wine Company is glad they share our sentiments that ‘one great deal is more than enough’. Our regulars know that we are truly passionate about delivering superior service and quality to our customers.

As always, we have our customer’s interests at heart. For those who have overindulged (and we know how easy it is to do that with the pineapple tarts and kueh lapis around), we have the remedy on hand: the ABC. It’s a concoction of goodness that was recommended by a professor-friend of mine, which I personally swear by.

If you want to taste what South African wines are about, this is a good try. This powerful red wine has a preponderance of Merlot, underpinned by sturdy Cabernet Sauvignon. What do you enjoy most about your work?
What I enjoy most about my work is meeting different types of people from all walks of life and interacting with them. I am also constantly learning new things.

What's your favourite wine?
Even on my off days when I go out with my friends, we end up at The Wine Company to have a drink, and during such occasions, a white wine is good. (Her picture was really taken when she visited Evans on her off day!) I have always liked the Cederberg Bukettraube from Stellenbosch, South Africa because of its pleasant semi-sweet taste, which goes well with spicy foods. I learned more about wine when I started working at The Wine Company so most of the wine knowledge I have gained should be credited to them! They have provided staff with wine courses on wine basics which are very useful for us to meet our customer's demands. When winery representatives visit Singapore, they also train us on their wines.

Describe a memorable incident during your working term at The Wine Company.
My birthdays! Spending birthdays at The Wine Company for 2 years in a row is actually not that bad. At Evans, we treat each other as family so every year during my birthday, they'll always prepare something to make it special.
